How To Protect Your Peace

Life can be hectic so we must take steps to protect our peace of mind as much as possible. If we are overtaken by anxiety and the cares of the world, we will be too stressed and overwhelmed to do the things we need to do in life or to help others in need. Here are some ways to protect your peace.

Pray For Peace

My first suggestion for just about anything is to pray. The Bible tells us in Isaiah 26:3 - “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you.” Jesus is the prince of peace; if we believe this to be true, he can help us protect ours.

Once you’ve prayed for peace, trust God to give it to you and walk in faith. Read bible verses about peace and reflect on them if you find yourself beginning to feel stressed out or overwhelmed.

Filter Out Stressful Media

Be mindful of what you watch and listen to, and limit your time watching the news and consuming media. The media is there to evoke emotion and reaction, which often includes fear and panic. We must turn it off if it affects our mental health or disturbs our peace. It’s also essential to verify what you read and get the facts.

Reframe Negative Thinking

Negative thoughts are normal and will happen occasionally. Still, you can overcome and reframe them by speaking the truth to yourself, practicing gratitude, journaling, and focusing on what’s good in your life. Don’t allow negative thinking to steal your joy and peace.

Let go of things you CAN’t CONTROL

I used to worry a lot about how things would turn out in my life. I still worry sometimes, but nowhere near as much as I did in the past. Now, when something is out of my control after I’ve done my part, I pray about it and trust God with it. Focusing on what I can control has improved my peace of mind immensely.

Engage In Peaceful Activities

Engage in activities that make you feel at peace. Spend time with people who make you feel good and safe. Your environment and activity (or lack thereof) significantly impact how you feel. It’s important to engage in activities that foster peace.

I hope you’ve found this helpful and will begin to experience more peace of mind each day.
