The Benefits Of A Morning Routine (Three Things To Include In Yours)

My morning routine is precious to me. It’s a part of my day that impacts the rest of my day, so I truly cherish it. I get up before my family to have a little solitude in the mornings. I start with making a cup of coffee (of course), followed by reading and meditating on a few verses from the Bible, praying, and writing in my journal. I finish my routine with a thirty- to sixty-minute workout.

A consistent morning routine equips me to handle everything I encounter throughout the day. I look forward to it and believe it makes me a better person. If I miss it, it shows in my mood and productivity that day.

By having a morning routine, you prioritize your self-care and mental health, enabling you to serve everyone in your life better and more effectively. Your morning routine doesn’t have to be extravagant or take a long time to complete. It should just be something that starts your day in a way that you want it to be for the duration.

“Our morning routine sets us up for success, and we should all be starting our day the way we intend to carry it on—whether that is energized, relaxed, productive, slow, organized, or rested.”

Exercise in the morning

Exercise has been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember. It has helped me through some very dark times. I exercise daily and use it for mental and physical health. To stay consistent with exercise, I have it as a part of my morning routine. Exercise can be a great part of a morning routine; it boosts energy to get the day started. Once you start, it may become something you look forward to doing each morning.

Follow a Bible reading plan

Something else that has helped me to read the Bible more consistently is following the reading plans in the Bible App when I first wake up as a part of my morning routine. The Bible App offers plans with encouragement and scripture to help you through all seasons of life. They also have programs that you book-by-book through the Bible with commentary from Bible scholars to help you understand what you’ve read.

Spend time journaling

Journaling has been a part of my morning routine for many years, and I have benefited mentally and emotionally from keeping a journal. Journaling helps me process my thoughts and feelings by putting them on paper. Sometimes, when I’m stressed or overwhelmed, I grab my journal and write out everything I think and feel. I usually feel better afterward and have more peace and clarity. Journaling when you first wake up is an excellent way to start a morning routine.
